about

This album touches on some of the experiences and feelings people have in dealing with living and dying. One person said, after listening to the full 31 minutes straight through, “It’s like the feeling I get after watching a poignant movie; it is emotionally challenging at times but I end up feeling at peace.” I can think of no greater compliment. I hope you enjoy the whole experience as well as the individual songs that appeal to you.

All the songs were composed by Brent Flickinger, who plays rhythm guitar and sings lead vocals throughout and is the co-producer.

The cello was arranged by Dave Rybczynski and the cello was performed by a cello student from Towson University, Megan Beichler.
Co-production, engineering and lead guitar were contributed by Mac Walter, a recording artist in his own right.

Drums were played by Max Vanderbeek, a percussionist who is a teacher. His son, Ryan, plays bass with him on “Higher Power.”
The drums and mandolin on “In Blue” were played by Mike Zampi, another recording artist, engineer, and teacher of drums and guitar.
Piano was arranged and performed by Chuck Field, composer and recording artist.

Harmonies are provided throughout by Mac Walter and the talented mother-daughter team of Monica and Kalina Bland. At the time of recording, Kalina was a vocal student at Baltimore School for the Arts.
Bob Jacobsen contributed saxophone on “He’s Still Alive.”

Art work is by Eddie Leon and photos by Amelia Downs Flickinger.

about

Brent Flickinger Baltimore, Maryland

Brent has been composing music since he was 17 years old. In recent years, his song-writing has focused on human situations that individuals experience. He was driven to sing about these topics because of the lack of music addressing them.
His first album is entitled "Flesh and Blood: Songs About Infertility and Adoption" that he was inspired to compose after adopting his daughter in 1993.
